May 17th, Direct Optic



On May 17th Mr. Karim Khouider visited our class. He is CEO of Direct Optic, who imports glasses and lenses from Korea to France.

1. What is Direct Optic?
Direct Optic is founded in March 2008 in Seoul. The companys main markets are France and French territories, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain and Italy. It has 3 websites and 10 shops for consumers. Mr. Khouider is one of the french businessmen in Korea, and he has 35 employees in Korea and France. He said, I could build a company in just two days. It was really fast compared to France, which takes three months to build a company, when he established the company in Korea. It had also 5 million euros revenue in 2016. Direct Optics shops are in Paris, Paris Sud, Marseille, Nantes, Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Angers, Lille, Montpellier, France.

2. How to provide to consumers?
Direct Optic provides its own products to consumers by 4 steps.
First, Know your correction and your pupillary gap.
To order corrective glasses from Direct Optic, consumers must have a prescription indicating their optical correction. Then, they only have to send the validated order to the company once by email, fax or post.
Second, Choose the frame.
Choose the frame which consumer likes among more than 1000 models available on its website. Virtual test (on each product sheet), testing of frames at home or in one of its stores. If consumer wants personalized advice contact its opticians, and they will advise.
Third, Choose prescription lenses.
Once the frame is chosen, consumer has to choose his corrective lenses. In the lens selector, Direct Optic gives him indications to choose his lenses according to his correction. He will be able to choose the type of lenses (single vision, progressive, mid-distance) and their range (Economy, Premium or Top of the range), thickness and color if he wants.
Lastly, Choose delivery method.
Direct Optic deliver consumers glasses at home all over the world. If the consumer lives in France, they can choose delivery method, in one of stores or delivery at home.
